Barry argumenta que o “liberalismo igualitário” constitui a melhor alternativa ao multiculturalismo, o qual, exagerando a origem cultural da situação de desprivilégio das minorias, minaria políticas redistributivas cuja eficácia depende da salvaguarda de princípios universalistas.
